A Reminder to BTCA Members
If you have a question concerning the Club or Club business, do not hesitate to contact your District Board Member.
The BTCA welcomes input from it members and encourages constructive dialogue
Joining the Border Terrier Club of America
The BTCA has a long standing reputation as a friendly and welcoming club, indeed many people who have joined the ranks of the
Border Terrier fancy from others breeds have said that the friendliness and helpfulness of BTCA members was a factor.
This welcome is extended to ALL Border Terrier owners regardless of whether their interest in the breed is limited to family
companion or extends to showing, performance, working or perhaps even breeding. ALL are on equal footing and extended the same priviledges.
That being said, the Club does have expectations of its members and wants to ensure that new members understand those expectations and will support the aims of the BTCA when it comes to the welfare of our breed.
In order to considered for membership, applicants require two sponsors who have been members of the BTCA for at least two years and one of whom must have known the applicant for at least one year.
Applicants are also required to sign that they will abide by the BTCA Ethical Standard (which forms part of the membership application).
If you are not an active member of the Border Terrier Community and are not sure how to go about getting sponsorship, we encourage you to talk to your Border Terrier's breeder or the rescue organization if your Border Terrier was obtained through Border Terrier Rescue. If neither of these resources are applicable, then please visit our "Getting to Know us" section below for guidance.
Full information on the membership process, including Junior Membership, can be found in our Policy and Procedures Manual, Policy No. 2-05 (PDF). You can also download a Membership Application (PDF) or contact our Membership Coordinator Susan Friedenberg if you have any additional questions.
Getting to Know us (and our dogs)
If you are looking for more information on the BTCA, or the breed or just want to get in touch with fellow
Border Terrier enthusiasts in your area, the following resources should prove helpful.
- BTCA On-line Directory Visit our on-line directory to find a resource near you,
not everyone in listed in this directory is a breeder but all are willing to discuss the breed and provide information to people researching Border Terriers.
If you are contemplating a Border Terrier primarily as a family companion, then talking to other "pet" owners is an excellent way to get another perspective on the breed.
