Versatility Register of Merit Application

The Versatility Register of Merit (VROM) celebrates the versatility and working aspects of our breed and rewards sires and dams for producing a specific number of Versatility or Versatility Excellent offspring. To receive this award, a BTCA member must submit the application to a designate of the Versatility Committee who will verify the record of the get and the required health clearances of the sire/dam being honored. Please note that a required percentage of the get must have achieved a field title. The owner of the VROM recipient will receive an engraved medallion and a certificate at the annual Awards Banquet.

Requirements

The BTCA Versatility Register of Merit Award recognizes and celebrates the best breeding practices as illustrated by BTCA Versatility Champion statistics and BTCA health certifications. To qualify for a VROM the Stud Dog/Brood Bitch must be owned (co-owned) by a BTCA member.  All owners of a VROM qualified Stud Dog/Brood Bitch that are BTCA members in good standing will receive a VROM certificate and a medallion free of charge.

A Stud Dog/Brood Bitch will be awarded a ROM based on the verified health screening requirements at the date of its birth, or death, if applicable, which are as follows:

    1. Born before December 31, 1999: No health screening requirements.
    2. Born between January 1, 2000 to December 31, 2005: OFA or Penn-Hip certification on hips and eye CERF or eye OFA certification dated within one year (before or after) of birth date for youngest get, or within one year of this application, or as of the date of death.
    3. Born January 1, 2006 or later: Current CHIC number as of the date of application, or as of the date of death. Health screening required for a CHIC number include hip screening from OFA, GDC, OVA, Penn-Hip, or BVA/KC Hip Scheme (at 24 months); annual eye CERF or eye OFA to age 8, OFA Cardiac Exam by a Cardiologist or Specialist; OFA Patellar Exam; and DNA for Shaking Puppy (SLEM) OFA

Sire must have a minimum of 7 BTCA Versatility Award get. To qualify, a percentage of get must have attained a Field Titles. Bronze = 7-9 (minimum of 4 with field titles). Silver = 10-11 (minimum of 6 with field titles) Gold = 12 + (Minimum of 7 with field titles)

Dam must have a minimum 5 BTCA Versatility Get. To qualify, a percentage of get must have attained a Field Titles. Bronze = 5-6 (minimum of 3 with field titles) Silver = 7-9 (minimum of 4 with field titles) Gold = 10 + (minimum of 6 with field titles)

If additional VROM certificate(s) are to be purchased please attach AKC registration copy and current address for each owner purchasing on a separate sheet of paper and attach to this application. Contact the Awards Chair for the cost/schedule of additional certificate/mailing.

Concerns or suggestions regarding the BTCA VROM verification process should be directed to the Awards Chair. Any questions regarding the process will be forwarded by the Awards Chair to the Board of Directors for determination of final approval.

Attach a marked copy of the AKC progeny report for the dog/bitch applying for the VROM Award. Attach a copy of your latest CHIC certificate or other health certificates as indicated. Applications submitted without the accompanying paperwork cannot be processed and will be returned. Application must be postmarked 60 days prior to the BTCA National Specialty if VROM is to be presented at the Specialty Awards Dinner.
